Gary Tubb Appointed Inaugural Director for the Center in Delhi
Gary Tubb, professor in South Asian Languages and Civilizations, has been named faculty director of the new Center in Delhi. “After a century of significant research collaborations between India and Chicago, the Center will provide a focus for building on that legacy in Delhi and throughout the region,” said Tubb.
Arnold I. Davidson Honored by French Government
Arnold I. Davidson, Robert O. Anderson Distinguished Service Professor in Philosophy, Comparative Literature, Romance Languages and Literatures, and the Divinity School, was promoted to the rank of Officer in the Ordre des Palmes Académiques during a ceremony on November 4.
Gift from Emmanuel Roman, MBA'87, to support Neubauer Collegium for Culture and Society
The collaborative, interdisciplinary work of the Neubauer Collegium for Culture and Society at the University of Chicago will be bolstered by a major gift to the University from philanthropist Emmanuel Roman.
The University has named the directorship of the Neubauer Collegium for the Roman family in recognition of his support. David Nirenberg, who has led the program since its establishment in 2012, will be named the Roman Family Director of the Neubauer Collegium for Culture and Society.
Inaugural Vivekananda Visiting Professors Announced
Sir Christopher Bayly of Cambridge University and David Shulman of Hebrew University have been appointed as the first recipients of the Indian Ministry of Culture Vivekananda Visiting Professorship.
