Missed an interesting presentation at Humanities Day? Eleven presentations from Humanities Day 2013 are now available online. From Françoise Meltzer’s keynote address on ruins to Thomas Pavel on the history of the novel, renowned scholars present their research to the public in the arts, literature, and philosophy topics. In addition to online lectures, online reads in the University of Chicago Magazine and the Chicago Maroon offer a chance to experience Humanities Day 2013. Read about how creative writing faculty members view the importance of reading to their work as writers in the popular “How Writers Read” presentation. Or follow along on a tour of the Midway Studios as professors in the Department of Visual Arts shared their workspaces and discussed their creative process. UChicago undergraduates at the Chicago Maroon filed seven reports from Humanities Day presentations on world literature, early Islamic texts, Pinocchio in popular culture, and more.
